Remembering Veterans Day

Veterans Day, November 11th
Honoring Military Veterans

This post was originally posted 11.11.08

It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day
in other parts of the world, falling on
November 11, the anniversary of the signing of
the Armistice that ended World War I.
(Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended

at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918

with the German signing of
the Armistice.)

I hope you'll take the time today
to thank a Veteran.

Happiness to you~

Veteran's Day is a day I always think of my day who was killed in the Vietnam War. Always a solemn and introspective day for me.

Hello Tracie... thank you for this heartfelt post, and thank you also for stopping by my blog and honoring my daddy as well... that meant so much to me... my daddy always called it Armistice Day when I was a little girl and bought us the little poppies that were sold... that is why I took red poppies to his grave besides his little flag... much love to you... I am up before dawn again. I love to seek out new blogs in the quite of the morning before all the hubbub starts. Today I found your wonderful blog. Dad was in WWII and remained in the service until he retired as Lt. Col. US Army Reserves. I always look for him in military pictures. He could very well have been one of the soldiers in your post! So many men and so many pictures and so many memories over the years.
