Country Market Antiquing

Have you been to the Jimtown Store?

The old Jimtown truck, the first thing
you see as you drive through Alexander Valley

Let's go on a petite tour, just in time

for the weekend!

Hmmm, what will you order?

Ooh, we'd better go inside, order and shop!

How about a cold Coke?

Don't you love the old sign and case?

Do you remember these?
My parents used to buy me
the chocolate cigarettes, fizzies and wax lips
and I used to get a stomach ache - wonder why?

I have very special memories of my dad
getting me this pink popcorn
(it never tasted good to me, but it was
very pretty)... still takes me back
to that safe place

Care to pick out a soda or water?

I think soda tastes better (and colder)
in bottles... just like the good old days

Let's take a look...
gourmet Jimtown olives
and look at the cheese

Okay, this is where we order...

I'm having the "Sonoma Picnic Sandwich"
(fig & chopped olives, goat cheese and prosciutto
on baguette ;)

My daughter's having the
"Jimtown"
(chopped olives and brie
on baguette)

Yum!

Let's go get a seat, they'll bring
our order to the patio, where the grapes
hang high above the benches

There's my daughter and shopping partner
she's found the perfect spot

A close up of beautiful grapes...

The antique warehouse...

This was more fun than....?

Oui... You got it right ~
A Barrel of Monkeys!

Hope you enjoyed the tour
Don't forget a cookbook on the way out

and...

Stop and smell the fleurs
Beautiful hollyhocks for sure!

But there's no place like home...

So off we go

Thanks for coming along,
hope you enjoyed the Jimtown Store
in Wine Country, California

Have a great weekend
&
Happiness to You!

Oooh Tracie, that was sooo much fun! I think I will have the Sonoma Picnic sandwich too and a Coke please! What a wonderful place... I miss all the things from my childhood...maybe that's why sometimes I think I am ten years old again and do some of the things I do! Do you remember those yummy coconut watermelon slice candies? I have searched high and low for those! Sounds like you had such a fun time! Bisous... Julie Marie

Boy Tracie, you took me way back. Did we have the same parents? Mine bought me fizzies, candy cigarettes, and wax lips. No kidding. My favorites. This place is so cool. I wish that my children could have had this same kind shopping experience growing up. Jimtown is so much fun. I think I'll come back to this post again and again just to 'remember'.
Hugs,
June
Did we have a great childhood or what?

Hi Tracie! What a fun place to spend the afternoon. My husband and I passed through wine country on our vacation. It was just lovely. That old truck in the first picture is fab. As soon as we can, my DH and I (yes, I'll have to help) are going to get an old Chevy truck and fix it up for me! I can't wait.

Tracie darling! You live in one of the most beautiful places in the country! I love stores like this! We have them sprinkled here and there here in Minnesota and they are so charming. You are making me want to pack an end of the summer lunch today of goat cheese whatever!!! How are you? Come on over and catch the third act of my play when you can. Bring Zeke because there is a dog as the star of the show! Blessings, Anita

Hi Tracie,
I almost forgot how much fun I am having when I visit you blog. Your trips are as usually so great and vivid that I feel being there right now.
Thanks for thinking of me, it means a lot to me. Life for Nikola and me is actually great, lot of things happened - positive ones. The only thing is that I am not posting it because I am not sure should I delete my blog or not.
My inspiration of writing was gone and it was taking lot of my time to write anything.
But now that I am here reading your small sweet adventures I realize I miss you, and actually being here.
So once again thank you for thinking of me and not giving up on me whan I already did. You are a true friend Tracie!

Suzy :)

Tracie, I remember those "wax lips" from childhood. Horrid things they were, but oh, how us kids loved them! I am enchanted by those grapes just overhead. And how about those bright red benches? I'd take one for my yard!

Sorry, I have gotten behind on reading, I got involved in that Rooster Party, and with 204 participants and DIAL-UP internet, well I've finally just given up on visiting with them all!!
